How to spend your time at Ramsgate Week 2019

The action-packed regatta schedule features plenty of races and proves to be an exciting watch even to those who know little about the sporting events that unfold. 

While the main event has a heavy focus on the regatta, there is plenty to see and do in the town and local area when you’re not watching the yachts. We have hand-picked just a few of our favourite things to do in Ramsgate… 

Dining on the Marina

Ramsgate Marina is always a catch, whether you are stopping off for a drink, bite to eat or ice cream… the views are worth every penny, while the abundance and range of cuisines cater all.

Restaurants under the Arches, along the West Cliff Arcade and Harbour Parade are hard to beat, each area providing a different but stunning view of the Marina. 

If you are hoping to stop off for a drink then choices are aplenty, the Royal Victoria Pavilion and its glorious sun-deck is hard to beat, especially given its Grade-II Listed status and rife history.

You can’t have a coastal recommendation without something sweet and that’s where Sorbetto comes into play, serving a delicious range of extraordinary desserts.  

Coastal walks

As with any coastal location, the walks along the seafront are not to be missed. Heading in either direction from the Marina provides equally stunning views, one way towards Broadstairs, through King George VI Memorial Park and the other out towards Pegwell, Cliffsend and onto Sandwich.

Beaches 

The Seaside Award Ramsgate Main Sands & Ramsgate Western Undercliff are just two of the many award-winning beaches in the local area. Whether you are paying a visit locally or heading into the area for Ramsgate Week you’d be silly not to enjoy some time basking on the sands, weather providing of course!

Ramsgate Tunnels 

The Ramsgate Tunnels tour takes you through the UK’s largest network of civilian wartime tunnels.

You start off with a short film show in the 150-year-old Victorian Railway Tunnel before heading off into the purpose-built Air Raid Precaution tunnels underneath the town of Ramsgate.
